September 25, 2010- Cleaning Up
At our house, we always have Parker clean up his toys before nap time, before bed time and before we leave the house to go somewhere. I know some people say this is fruitless because they're just going to make the mess again as soon as they're awake from nap time, you get back home from wherever you've been, etc. While this is true, I am one that can let it go all day long and wait until Parker goes to bed. I don't like the toys strewn all over the house and more importantly, I think it instills a good habit of cleaning things up when you're done playing with them. (and yes, I realize that despite doing this now, my son will probably still be a messy teenager, lol) No offense to anyone who chooses to wait to have their kids clean up...I see the logic in doing it that way too...I'm just not someone who can stand to let it go all day, lol! :) The other day, I got done in the shower and was about to dry my hair. I came downstairs and told Parker that he needed to start cleaning up because when I was done with my hair we would be leaving to go to Target. I dried my hair for a few minutes and then stopped so I could listen to see if Parker had actually started cleaning up or if he was going to need some help. I heard him saying, "No people! Don't make a mess...mommy said it's time to clean up! We are cleaning up!" It totally cracked me up! Previously I blogged about how Parker might have imaginary friends so I was wondering if he was talking to his imaginary friends again, lol! Ironically, while he was laying down the law with his imaginary friends, none of his toys were being cleaned up, ha! Too funny!
