"Want to sing Jesus"

Every night before bed, it's the same routine...clean-up, bath time (every other night but this will become every night once the weather is consistently warmer and we're spending more time outside), read books, "click" the lights (turn them off...but Parker likes to call it "clicking" the lights), pray and then time to sleep. Lately after praying, Parker has been asking me to "rock for 5 minutes" in the rocking chair in his room. This is something he had completely lost interest in doing once we switched him to his toddler bed. You see, when we read books before bed, he used to sit in my or James' lap in the rocker as we read books to him. Once he had his toddler bed, he ONLY wanted to sit in his bed to read instead of sitting in our laps. His toddler bed is one that just uses the crib mattress so there's not exactly room for James or I to climb into bed with him to read to him. It made me kind of sad when I wasn't able to cuddle with him while reading books to him before bed! :( Anyway, usually when I rock with him I just talk quietly with him about his day. Tonight however he kept saying something and I couldn't figure out what he was saying...then, (with James' help), we figured out he was saying "Want to sing Jesus"! I then said to him "Are you saying you want mommy to sing 'Jesus Loves Me' to you?" to which he responded, "Uh huh!" in his sweet enthusiastic toddler voice! It just melted my heart to hear my sweet little angel request to sing Jesus Loves Me!! :)

  1. bedtime snuggles and singing are the best! do you think they will still let us do that when they are 13? B/c I don't ever want it to end!

  2. Haha... Kylie's toddler bed uses the crib mattress but Jason and I climb on the bed with her anyways. I have pictures of Jason all curled up on the tiny thing reading her stories. It's so funny to see a six foot tall guy on the tiny toddler bed. I used to sometimes even climb into the pack-n-play when we were on trips to cuddle with Kylie in that tiny pack-n-play. I'm sure you or James could lay on the toddler bed with him sometime (but if it breaks, pretend like I didn't suggest it, ours hasn't broken thank goodness!) :)
