Baby Signs! :)

Well I am doing yet another post before getting the Christmas pics posted but I just get too tired these days to worry about putting up pics so it keeps getting delayed...now on to the real post...

I have been doing several basic baby signs with Parker for quite a while but until just recently, he wasn't actually doing them back. A few days ago, I noticed him doing a sign similar to "all done" and saying "dah" as he signed it. I thought maybe it was just a fluke at first, but he is repeatedly using it appropriately now, (most of the time anyway). Sometimes he seems to say it just to repeat it after we say it, because sometimes he will say it when he's eating and then he'll act like he wants to eat more instead of being done. A couple of times after we got finished changing his diaper today, he also said it after we told him we were all done changing his diaper, so he at least knows that it means "all done" even if he doesn't for sure know exactly when to use it. He also said "please" in sign language for the first time today! He was looking, pointing, and grunting toward his water cup when he was eating so I picked up the cup and asked him while signing, if he wanted "water please"...he carefully studied my hand as I signed please and then proceeded to sign it when I asked him to say "water please"! :) He signed it several more times during his meal when I asked him to say "please". Of course when daddy got home, he refused to cooperate and show daddy his new fancy skills! Silly baby!

  1. Doesn't it always seem like when they learn to do something new you are the only one around to witness it? And when you try to show off their new skill, they won't do it anymore!!

  2. It certainly does! Today he cooperated well though and signed please several times when James was home! I even got it on video so hopefully I'll get it posted soon! :)
