Painting!

The other day Parker REALLY wanted to go play outside all of a sudden. Well, I say all of a sudden, but I guess what I should really say is ever since we went to Target and got him some more pool toys. Getting the pool toys spurred on a conversation all about how when the weather gets warmer we'll be able to go to the pool and go swimming outside and use our new pool toys. It was far too cold here the day Parker wanted to go outside so I was trying to think of something unique we could do inside to help distract him. Then I remembered he's been seeing the paint brushes and paint stampers and asking to paint for a while now so I thought I should take the opportunity to mix up some paint and let him go at it! He LOVED painting!! I was actually amazed that he didn't throw a fit when daddy got home and it was time to eat dinner and put the paints away. :) I took a couple of videos and several pictures, including one of all his beautiful artwork! We might just have a little Picasso on our hands! ;)

just started painting...

time for brown paint...

I know it LOOKS like he's not enjoying himself but trust me, he was...it just takes a lot of concentration to paint...

loved using the brown paint...I think brown is his favorite color right now because usually when he colors with crayons he chooses to use brown first.

using the paint stampers...I personally LOVE the paint stampers [Parker thought they were pretty neat too]! We got them at Michaels in the kids section in case anyone is interested!

This was really funny because he'd use it for a while, then he'd turn it over and examine it to see what it looked like on the other side! :)

Voila...the masterpieces! :)

  1. So neat! A friend of mine chooses a few of her favorites that her son makes and frames them in matted frames from hobby lobby. Their living room is gorgeous, and it was all her young child's work (from maybe 2 until now, which is four). I think you might have some to pick from, especially the stamped art! It looks like beautiful contemporary art, and it would keep it nice forever. Good work, Parker!

  3. Thanks, Deb! I was thinking about at least hanging them in his room. I think I'm also going to start keeping an art portfolio for him like I've done at different centers I've worked in. It's a really neat way to see how their art abilities progress! :)
