Ear Infection Update

When Parker woke up this morning his fever was only 101.2, so I was hopeful that today would be a good day! I was afraid since it had been 102.5 when he went to bed that it might spike during the night and he'd wake up with a very high fever. I went ahead and gave him Tylenol b/c I didn't want the fever to get out of control or anything. 4 hours later when I went to give him Tylenol, his temp was 100.4. It seemed like the Tylenol was really helping to keep the fever down so it seemed that Parker was on the mend. He had been acting like his normal happy self, although he didn't quite have his full appetite. 3 hours and 20 minutes later as Parker sat in my lap, I noticed that he felt REALLY hot again! Nervously I took his temp, (I was afraid to see how high it was). Just as I had suspected, he had a high fever once again...102.6. Granted, he is only 14 months old and it's not even considered a fever for a child his age until it is over 101 degrees so it's not the same as if an adult were to have a fever that high, but I still felt bad for him. I had 40 minutes until I could give him Tylenol again, plus he was really tired and ready for a nap...what to do, what to do...do I put him down for his nap and let him get the sleep he so desperately needed and risk having his fever continue to rise while he slept without me being able to give him Tylenol??...or do I wait to put him down for a nap until after the 40 minutes has passed so that he can have his Tylenol before napping?? I decided to just put him down for his nap since he was so tired and he usually only sleeps for 1-1 1/2 hours anyway so I figured the fever shouldn't rise too much in that amount of time. Sure enough, like clockwork, 1 1/2 hours later, Parker woke up. I immediately took his temp because he felt even hotter than when I had laid him down for his nap. This time it was the highest fever my sweet baby boy has ever had, 103.8!! I gave him Tylenol and called James to see if he thought we needed to call the pediatrician or anything. He assured me Parker would be fine and to strip him down to just his diaper. You never would know, (other than a bit more clinginess than usual), that my sweet baby boy was even "sick"! He played happily as if all was well for pretty much the entire day. I think if I had a fever like that, I'd be quite grumpy so James and I were both surprised that he has been so happy despite his high fever. Hopefully tomorrow the fever won't be so high and we can just be done with this yucky ear infection...
